A recent investigative report highlighted the incumbent Attorney General at a $1,000 a night resort in Maui attending a conference sponsored by “more than a dozen” corporations that Phil Weiser has sued, settled, or is currently in litigation with. As Chris Toth, the former executive director of the National Association of Attorneys General, a quasi-governmental organization that provides training and resources for AGs stated in that investigated report: “Could some of these settlements have been higher? Perhaps. Perhaps not. But when you’re taking things from the people you’re suing and investigating, it certainly creates a very, very troubling perception.”
John believes that transparency is critical to building public trust. At a time when trust in our institutions is low, Colorado needs an Attorney General who will prioritize transparency and honesty. Recently, John co-led a bipartisan group of public safety leaders in launching data transparency dashboards, the first project of its kind in the entire country.
