A Safer Colorado Begins with
John Kellner
is driven by service.
Having grown up in a military family, John learned early the values of service to your community, doing the right thing when it’s hard, and family above all else. He modeled his principles and beliefs after President Reagan, including respecting the rule of law, keeping government small, and practicing fiscal responsibility.
John would go on to graduate from the University of Florida, earn a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps, and attend law school in Boulder, Colorado—where he met his wife on the first day of classes.
John Kellner
knows there is always more work to do.
He spent the first five years after law school on active duty in the Marine Corps, where he held various prosecutorial roles. John later deployed to Afghanistan where he helped local government leaders resolve conflicts in the absence of a formal justice system, helped to build schools for girls who were previously denied access to education, worked to train the local police force, and participated in operational planning for military operations and local elections.
After resigning from active duty, John worked as a prosecutor in the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office before joining the 18th Judicial District in 2013 to start a Cold Case Unit. In 2016 he was named “Prosecutor of the Year” by the Colorado District Attorney’s Council. He continues to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel.
John currently serves as the elected District Attorney for Colorado’s 18th Judicial District where he’s worked every day to improve and protect the Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln County communities.
